As a freelancer since 2020, I built up my experience during my internship at Layhgo in Nijmegen in 2018, where I also carried out assignments in set construction after completing my internship. In the summer of 2019, I started climbing with decor building.
Set construction often involves challenges, requiring ad hoc adjustments for a perfect result. This is done in close collaboration with colleagues, creative producers and designers.
Collaborating with colleagues to realize creative projects and working outside gives me extensive energy. For me, building decor for festivals is like solving a complex puzzle. With limited views and drawings of the stage, we and our colleagues have to build the set with the available materials.
It is essential to coordinate the work with other parties, such as lighting and sound professionals. Basic knowledge of common lamps and PA systems is fundamental.
